Naturopathy

Naturopathy, as the name suggests comprises of 'natural' healing remedies and techniques. Some say that Hippocrates, the ancient Greek healer, was the first advocate of naturopathy – yet, the practice of using natural ingredients in healing can be traced back to the start of written, recorded history. It encompasses a wide range of treatments, acupuncture, herbalism, hydrotherapy, among others.

The essential philosophy of naturopathy is that one’s body has an innate, vital energy that can help in the process of healing. Naturopathy is directed at guiding the internal mechanisms towards self-healing, and suggesting changes to lifestyle choices to balance the internal and external environments. Thereby, naturopathy is also aligned to holistic healing principles.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy, as the name suggests, uses the element of water for its properties of re-hydration and rejuvenation. Here is a list of our water-based therapies:

Underwater Massage
The underwater massage is a procedure where the body is immersed in a water tub, and the water pressure applied is controlled by multiple jet valves. The massage enhances the blood circulation and lymphatic drainage through the body, relaxes the muscle systems, tones the skin and helps to eliminate the body's metabolic wastes. The underwater massage is beneficial for those suffering from pain or stiffness in the joints, like arthritic patients.

Spinal Spray

The spinal spray therapy regulates water pressure on the spinal cord from jet valves, for a calming, relaxing effect. The spinal spray helps to stimulate the nerves, and is thereby effective for highly strung, depressed or irritable patients, insomniacs, and those experiencing vertebral tension, spondylitis or muscular backache. The spinal spray also relieves sciatic pain and gastrointestinal disorders.

Hip Bath

A hip bath involves the immersion of the hip region from the navel up to the mid-thighs, in water at temperatures best suited to the individual. The hip bath enhances circulation in the gut and pelvic regions and relieves blocked energies. Hip baths can help regularize menstrual cycles, and can balance conditions like amenorrhoea and dysmenorrhoea. Hip baths also relieve constipation, ease abdominal and intestinal spasms and enhance the digestive processes.

Enema

A simple detoxification technique, enema involves irrigating the rectum. Enema helps remove faecal matter and toxins from the colon, and provides relief from constipation, indigestion, acidity and other digestive disorders.

Colon Hydrotherapy

Colon hydrotherapy is a treatment that irrigates the entire length of the colon with pressurized water, to soothe and detoxify the system. Colon hydrotherapy enhances the absorption of nutrients, improves intestinal peristalsis and helps regulate and regularize the body's elimination processes. Colon hydrotherapy can help initiate healthy weight loss, relieve intestinal bloating, and bring about a sense of overall well-being.

Vichy Shower

A relaxing and rehydrating technique where a reclining individual is bathed with adjustable shower jets overhead. The Vichy Shower can improve blood circulation to the body's peripheral parts, help the skin eliminate toxins through the skin pores, and can enhance the effect of a scrub, when used in combination.

Arm & Foot Bath

With many nerve endings located in the arms and feet, these are the centers for reflex points across the body. The arm and foot bath is a simple treatment, where these important nerve centres are immersed in warm water to help them relax and address specific ailments like insomnia, nervous irritability, headaches, congestions, and joint pains in the hands or feet.

Full Wet Sheet Pack

Wrapping one's body in different layers of sheets can have pronounced physiological and therapeutic benefits. The procedure has an initial energising effect, followed by a soothing one, can cause sweating, and ends on a positive, rejuvenating note. The full wet sheet pack can address conditions like fever, psoriasis, liver diseases and can result in a general detoxification.

Various Hydro Packs & Compresses

This technique involve wrapping different parts of the body with hot and cold packs or compresses, to bring about various physiological effects. We offer chest pack, abdomen pack, wet girdle pack, throat pack, gastro-hepatic pack, kidney pack - each of which can relieve symptoms of that particular part of the body. Hydro packs and compresses help in relieving congestion, stimulate blood circulation, remove excess heat, relax muscles and eliminate toxins from different parts of the body.

Steam Bath

Steam bath treatment helps eliminate the morbid matter present under the skin lining. The moist heat induces perspiration and thereby, opens up the pores on the skin for the elimination of toxins. A steam bath can also be beneficial for general body aches, rheumatism and obesity.

Sauna Bath

A sauna bath exposes the body to dry heat for a period of time, to cause perspiration, dilate the blood vessels and lower the blood pressure. Sauna baths release salt and toxins from the body, catalyze metabolism, ease muscle tension and give an overall feeling of relaxation.

Mud Therapy

Mud therapy involves the application of processed, powdered mud to the body for therapeutic benefits. Ideally, the mud is collected from a depth of around six feet near water bodies, and is usually grey-black in colour and clayey in consistency. The mud is powdered, sun-dried, and cleansed to remove stones and organic matter, and soaked in warm water overnight, before application.

Types of application:

  • Mud packs - involves the direct application of mud on body.
  • Mud wraps - mud is wrapped in clean linen for eye packs, abdomen packs and some local packs.
  • Mud Bath - immersion of the whole body in mud slush.
  • Hot Packs - Heated mud applied locally to relieve pain.
As mud therapies help improve blood circulation and tone up the skin, they are used for treating various skin ailments like eczema and psoriasis. Mud therapies help reduce anxiety and stress, and can address headaches, sleeplessness, hypertension, migraines and digestive disorders. Heated mud packs are effective in treating joint pains and muscle stiffness.

Starch-Turmeric Bath

The Starch-Turmeric bath involves the mixing of rice starch with turmeric powder, which is then applied to the body and allowed to dry in the sun. Turmeric finds mention in ancient texts on beauty and healing for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, thereby resulting in enhanced skin complexion, efficient treatment various skin related ailments and slowing down the ageing process.

Athapa Snana (Banana Leaf Wrap)

The Athapa Snana involves a gentle, oil massage, after which the body is wrapped in banana leaves and left to bask in the sunshine. Banana leaves are best known for their healing properties, and can address various skin problems. The antioxidants in banana leaves can slow down the ageing process, help heal wounds and lighten scars, giving the skin a healthy glow. As the process also involves sudation, Athapa Snana can help detoxify the body.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture, a traditional Chinese remedy, involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific points of the body. The study of acupuncture has identified several meridians, or 'Chi' lines through which the body's energy flows. The needles are inserted along these meridians to help release chi blockages and promote its free flow throughout the body.

  • AURICULO THERAPY - acupuncture focused on the ear
  • CUPPING THERAPY - refers to the usage of vacuum cups on the surface of the body to stimulate the energy points for energy correction
  • MOXIBUSTION - stimulating the acupoints by burning moxa wool on the inserted needle, to heat the specific point to correct the imbalances of damp and cold in the body.
Acupuncture creates a harmony of the natural elements like water, fire, earth with naturally-occurring substances like wood and metal. Acupuncture stimulates the entire body, relieves muscle tension and associated pain, improves skin health, releases toxins, and treats diseases of the veins, arteries and capillaries. Acupuncture can also clear colon blockages.
